If you’re a follower of all things makeup and beauty, then chances are, you’ve heard about Rare Beauty. In case you haven’t heard, let me fill you in! Rare Beauty is a makeup brand that was launched in 2019 by none other than Selena Gomez. Makeup fans and Selena fans alike were so excited to see what she was launching and when Selena first previewed her beauty brand, the internet went crazy!
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez
Rare Beauty launched a whole collection and made a huge splash in the makeup community. Products that they launched included foundations, lipsticks, lip balms, concealers, blushes, eyeliner, a primer, a setting spray, a blotting kit, highlighters, brushes, and a beauty sponge. Along with the products, Rare Beauty announced that they will start a Rare Impact Fund, which aims to raise $100 million over the next 10 years toward mental health. So, not only did Selena Gomez launch a full range beauty brand, but she is also giving back and making an impact on our society which I think is pretty great.
When I first saw the products and the full line that was released by Rare Beauty, I was immediately captivated. Although there has been an increasing amount of celebrities jumping into the beauty space, Selena’s brand felt like a breath of fresh air that caught my attention. What first caught my eye, in particular, was the overall appearance and the aesthetic of the brand. I love all things light pink, nude, and neutral, and I felt like this brand just looked so clean.
Additionally, I really loved the packaging of the products because it was so innovative and unlike anything I own. All of the packaging is in bottles that have a circle on top of the cap. Not only does the circle on the top of the cap look very nice and modern, but it is also intended to help those with arthritis to open the products easier. Thus, making the packaging unique, functional, and cute, but also meaningful.
When the products began to arrive in the hands of all of my favorite Youtubers, I couldn’t wait to see if the products were worth giving a shot. After watching many reviews, I noticed that everyone that tried the products loved them! Everyone really enjoyed the formulas, the packaging, the vibe, and were pleasantly surprised with how the products performed. From the videos, I noticed that the brand was aiming for products that appear natural on the skin and are simple to apply. Lately, I feel like the “no makeup makeup” look has been on the rise and this brand really is perfect for that.
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez – Liquid Blush
After watching so many different videos and reading up on the products, the product that caught my attention the most was the Soft Pinch liquid blush. If you’re not new here, then you know that this is just a crazy choice for me; liquid blush?! If you’re new here, it’s time that I mention that I have super oily skin. If I don’t use products specifically catered to oily skin, then by the end of the day my face is super shiny and my makeup doesn’t look half as cute as when I applied it at the beginning of the day.
Typically when you have oily skin, your blush of choice should be a powder blush. Powder blushes last longer on the skin, don’t slip around, and they also don’t add any extra shine or oiliness to the skin as well. However, when I saw that Rare Beauty launched liquid blushes that were available in Matte versions, I just knew I HAD to have it. So, I ran to my nearest Sephora and I purchased the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shade Bliss. And now, after a few weeks of using it consistently, my review is in!
Liquid Blush: Packaging
Let me start off by saying that I am absolutely AMAZED by this blush and I’m shocked with how much I adore it! I seriously feel like I’m going to have to purchase back-ups soon so that I don’t have a makeup day without it; that’s how much I love it. As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, the packaging is so unique and I love it. The top of the matte frosted bottle has a gold ball on it so that it’s easier to open and it also gives a nice look to the product as well. The shade that I purchased is Bliss, which is described as a matte nude pink.
Liquid Blush: How to Apply
After applying my foundation, before I set my face with any powder, I place a few dots on the apples of my cheeks using the applicator. Yes, 1-2 dots of this product is more than enough because this blush is super pigmented! Then, I blend the blush out with a very slightly damp beauty sponge in an upward motion. The blush melts like a complete dream into my skin and with the rest of my foundation and it looks so natural, it’s amazing. One thing to note is that I apply the blush one side at a time because I feel like it dries pretty quickly.
Then, after the blush is nice and blended, I set my face with my favorite translucent powder. Initially, I was skeptical to apply powder on top of the cream blush because I wasn’t sure if it would interact well or if it would totally get rid of any of the pigment. Well, let me tell you, this product crushed all of my fears. Even after setting the blush with a thin layer of translucent powder, you can still see the pigment through it and it looks like the most gorgeous flush of color ever!
Liquid Blush: Does it Last?
The best part about this blush, other than everything else I just mentioned? This blush lasts! Even after wearing my makeup for an entire day, being out in the Florida sun, I feel like I still see the blush on my face at the end of the day. And another major bonus? It doesn’t add any type of oiliness or shine to my face whatsoever, which was always a major concern of mine when it came to cream blushes.
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez: Final Thoughts
If you’re curious about Rare Beauty, are into cream blushes, have oily skin and are skeptical about liquid blushes, or if you’re just looking for a new blush to try, then I HIGHLY recommend trying out the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. The product is blendable, pigmented, and looks so natural and gorgeous on the skin. Aside from the matte version that I mentioned, the product is also available in a radiant finish with 4 shades as well! The product is super pigmented and I feel like it will last a very long time, thus in my opinion, making their $20 price point very worth it! Give this product a shot and I promise you, you won’t regret it!
