Makeup Quiz: FREE Personalized Makeup Guides

Just a few years ago, I was sitting, staring into a mirror at my grandmother’s house, with a foundation brush in my right hand. Unbeknownst to me, this was the moment I fell in love with makeup. For full transparency, I did not know what a “foundation brush” was, nor did I know what I was doing; neither did my grandma, but did we have fun! All I knew at that moment was that something so simple, a brush (which I was convinced was meant for painting art galleries and clown makeup) could bring such a smile to my face.

In the beginning, I was a hot mess! Whatever powder, lipstick, or cream my grandma had in her collection, I grabbed. The sky was the limit; three blushes, two eyeshadows, and lipstick from dimple to dimple (why not!). In time, and after several conversations of me wasting all of my grandma’s makeup, I started to learn the process and the correct way of applying each and every layer.

During this time, it hit me; if only there was a resource, a makeup quiz or makeup guide, that could not only show me the steps of applying makeup but recommended products to start off with. Keep in mind, I know the answer nowadays is TikTok or YouTube, but during 2006, all we had was trial and error. I learned a lot since 2006 and that same thought I had over 17 years ago hit me; are there any makeup quizzes or guides to help others going through what I went through so long ago? The answer was no!

Being the “tech-savvy queen” that I am (NOT), I grabbed my husband and simply said, “Makeup quiz, now!” I will be honest, the word “now” ended up being 2 months, but I am proud to say, the quiz was completed. It had to be perfect; typical Simply Beauty Blog style! Every product, every step, for every skin type and occasion – this makeup quiz could not have been put together any better!

Makeup Quiz | How Is This Different Than the Rest?

The Simply Beauty Blog makeup quiz helps match personalized recommendations for your skin types! Through a series of questions, the makeup quiz gets to understand what skin type you have to showcase the correct guide that fits your very needs. Not only does this makeup quiz take into account your particular skin type, but I have laid out a step-by-step makeup guide on what products you should definitely use, when, and in what order. Usually, other makeup quizzes, simply help with shade matching a particular product or helping to choose one product out of a product line; here on this makeup quiz, I put in the work to give you the entire spectrum!

Back in 2006, this is EXACTLY what I needed… help! So many products to choose from for so many occasions, not even understanding how they work / affect my skin type. Trust me, back then, my skin was very confused, just like I was, because the sheer amount of products being put on it was iconically high! Makeup Quiz | My Personalized Makeup Guides

The day is finally here and I can’t possibly be more excited! I started this blog as a way for me to talk about one of my favorite things in the world: all things beauty. As you can hopefully tell by now, I love beauty so much and it is intertwined in almost everything I do. I love makeup because of how creative it makes me, how confident it makes me feel, and it’s just so much fun to play around with it and try new products.

One day, we were brainstorming about what we can do to make this blog different. I knew that although I can write about makeup and all things beauty until my fingers fall off, I wanted to also do something different with this blog and to really interact with our followers and viewers.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been totally obsessed with washing my hair. I literally always hated the feeling of my hair getting greasy and I was also so self-conscious the second that I felt like my hair was only a tiny bit dirty. Since I hated the look of my hair getting even the tiniest bit greasy, I got into the habit of washing my hair almost every day. If you’ve heard anything about hair care and overall hair health, the number one thing you definitely shouldn’t be doing is washing your hair daily. This hair dryer has made its rounds online because it claims to work as an absolute miracle hair styling tool for the fraction of the cost of the high-end extremely expensive Dyson airwrap tool! After hearing about it and watching a few YouTube videos about it, I was intrigued and I just knew that I had to try it out for myself! I went to my nearest Bed Bath & Beyond (it’s all about the coupons) and the rest was history.

The Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer is a styler that’s meant to be your one-stop shop when it comes to hair styling; it’s meant to not only dry your hair but also give you a gorgeous style at the same time. Let me tell you right off the bat, this product is a complete and total god-send! When I first tried the tool out, I went into the experience with an open mind but I was also pretty skeptical because I just didn’t think it would work as great as a salon blow dry rather it would just be a gimmick of a hair dryer.

“…makes it look as if I literally walked straight out of the salon every single time…”

Well, I was SO wrong! The Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer makes it look as if I literally walked straight out of the salon every single time all from the comfort of my own home; it’s a miracle. The tool has 3 settings: high, low, and cool and there is no way to adjust the temperature aside from the settings. A tip from me, would be to use the product not too often because even though there is a “low” setting, the heat is never low. The dryer gets pretty hot so I recommend using the styler maybe once or twice a week so that you can have a gorgeous style that lasts, without any of the damage!

“My hair looks shiny, bouncy, healthy, and the style LASTS!”

In my opinion, what makes the styler so unique is the gorgeous look that it gives my hair. My hair looks shiny, bouncy, healthy, and the style LASTS! I found that even though the product has pretty high heat options, I see less damage in my hair because since I use it about once a week, it actually reduces my usage of my hair straightener or any other heat tool/products a.k.a less damage!

And now, for some frequently asked questions about the Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer!

1. Can you use the Revlon One Step on wet hair?
   
   No! One of the biggest tips when using any hair dryer, not just the Revlon, it using it on about 80% dry hair. The reason for this is that it reduces the frizz in the end product, reduces damage to your wet hair, and it makes the whole process much easier and faster!
   
2. Does the Revlon One Step damage hair?
   
   In my opinion, I don’t think this product damages hair. I feel like it helps to reduce the amount you use any other heat tools, which in turn reduces hair damage. However, I do think that this product is 100% capable of causing damage to your hair if it’s used often due to its high heat. Thus, I recommend using it sparingly, and to also use a heat protectant spray before you style your hair!
   
3. How do I style my hair with the Revlon One Step?
   
   It’s so easy it’s unbelievable! Wait for your hair to dry to about 80%, apply a heat protectant, use the brush to blow dry your hair in sections. Depending on the way you hold the brush, you can either achieve hair full of volume, wavy hair that has a slight curl, or even just straight hair.
   
4. Can you use the Revlon One Step On dry hair?
   
   Believe it or not, yes! Since this product has pretty high heat, it can be used as a refresher to style your hair. Although it won’t really be the best idea to do full blow out on dry hair, you can definitely use this tool to refresh your hair, add some volume, or even just fix up some pieces of hair that need a little oomph!

What is Argan Oil?

Argan Oil is derived from a nut that comes from the Argan Tree, that is said to be only grown in a region in Morocco. Argan Oil’s composition is rich in fatty acids as well as Vitamin E; two characteristics that make the oil great for your hair as well as skin. Aside from those two components, Argan oil contains linoleic acids as well. The oil is sold in many different stores, however, I personally bought the Argan Oil Spray Treatment from Amazon for $11.31 (Currently $17.99) and have never been so pleased! I use the oil daily on wet hair, and brush it out as soon as I apply it. It is never sticky, and dries down completely weightless. It keeps my hair less frizzy, silky, smooth, and healthy.

What are the Benefits of Argan Oil?

1) Skin Benefits

Argan Oil is commonly used to both hydrate and soften any dry skin. Since it is so high in vitamins and fatty components, it is an easy, natural, and harmless way to add much needed hydration to your skin. My favorite thing about Argan Oil is that is truly not greasy whatsoever and completely melts and sinks in your skin when you apply it. A little bit goes a long way, since after all, it’s an oil. A few drops is plenty to keep your skin super nice and smooth.

2) Hair Benefits

This one is by far my favorite use of the oil. As I mentioned in the beginning of the post, I mainly use Argan Oil on damp hair after I shower; I apply a few sprays in my hair, brush it out, and let my hair air dry. This oil is a lifesaver when it comes to treating split ends and taming frizzy hair, two major hair concerns of mine. I used to use an Argan Oil that was just poured into my hands from a bottle, however, I always found myself using way too much and the product wasn’t being dispersed evenly throughout my hair. The spray that I highly recommend is the One ‘n Only Argan Oil Spray Treatment because the mister is super fine and this bottle lasts a LONG time. It took me maybe about 1 year to go through my first bottle!

3) Anti-Aging

Although I haven’t yet started to get wrinkles or fine lines, it is really never to early to start using anti-aging products to preserve the youthful glow that you have on your face. Argan Oil is an easy way to start up your anti-aging routine because the oil has antioxidants naturally occurring in it which is ideal for calming the face, eliminating any scarring, and just improving the elasticity of the skin.

Question: If I have Oily skin, would putting an oil on my face be counterproductive?

That question right there was definitely one of my areas of concern but after some research, I found that is definitely NOT the case! Putting an oil on your skin, actually balances out your skin’s natural oil production; which in my case, happens to be pretty high. Applying Argan Oil, balances out your oils and will actually in the long run reduce the oiliness of your skin! Argan oil is also super lightweight and easily absorbs into your skin, so pore clogging will not be an issue if you incorporate this oil into your skincare regimen.

Aside from the 3 main benefits that I mentioned in this post, Argan Oil is also used to:

• Prevent stretch marks from pregnancy
• Soften nails and any cracked skin
• Provide lip treatment
• Heal your skin from inflammation or burns

To sum it all up, Argan Oil is really amazing and it is just mind blowing for me to see how all of those benefits can come from just one bottle. I highly recommend incorporating oils into your skincare and hair care regimens; you won’t be disappointed!
