If you’re a follower of all things makeup and beauty, then chances are, you’ve heard about Rare Beauty. In case you haven’t heard, let me fill you in! Rare Beauty is a makeup brand that was launched in 2019 by none other than Selena Gomez. Makeup fans and Selena fans alike were so excited to see what she was launching and when Selena first previewed her beauty brand, the internet went crazy!

Rare Beauty launched a whole collection and made a huge splash in the makeup community. Products that they launched included foundations, lipsticks, lip balms, concealers, blushes, eyeliner, a primer, a setting spray, a blotting kit, highlighters, brushes, and a beauty sponge. Along with the products, Rare Beauty announced that they will start a Rare Impact Fund, which aims to raise $100 million over the next 10 years toward mental health. So, not only did Selena Gomez launch a full range beauty brand, but she is also giving back and making an impact on our society which I think is pretty great.

When I first saw the products and the full line that was released by Rare Beauty, I was immediately captivated. Although there has been an increasing amount of celebrities jumping into the beauty space, Selena’s brand felt like a breath of fresh air that caught my attention. What first caught my eye, in particular, was the overall appearance and the aesthetic of the brand. I love all things light pink, nude, and neutral, and I felt like this brand just looked so clean.

Additionally, I really loved the packaging of the products because it was so innovative and unlike anything I own. All of the packaging is in bottles that have a circle on top of the cap. Not only does the circle on the top of the cap look very nice and modern, but it is also intended to help those with arthritis to open the products easier. Thus, making the packaging unique, functional, and cute, but also meaningful.

When the products began to arrive in the hands of all of my favorite Youtubers, I couldn’t wait to see if the products were worth giving a shot. After watching many reviews, I noticed that everyone that tried the products loved them! Everyone really enjoyed the formulas, the packaging, the vibe, and were pleasantly surprised with how the products performed. From the videos, I noticed that the brand was aiming for products that appear natural on the skin and are simple to apply. Lately, I feel like the “no makeup makeup” look has been on the rise and this brand really is perfect for that.

Makeup Quiz: FREE Personalized Makeup Guides

Just a few years ago, I was sitting, staring into a mirror at my grandmother’s house, with a foundation brush in my right hand. Unbeknownst to me, this was the moment I fell in love with makeup. For full transparency, I did not know what a “foundation brush” was, nor did I know what I was doing; neither did my grandma, but did we have fun! All I knew at that moment was that something so simple, a brush (which I was convinced was meant for painting art galleries and clown makeup) could bring such a smile to my face.

In the beginning, I was a hot mess! Whatever powder, lipstick, or cream my grandma had in her collection, I grabbed. The day is finally here and I can’t possibly be more excited! I started this blog as a way for me to talk about one of my favorite things in the world: all things beauty. As you can hopefully tell by now, I love beauty so much and it is intertwined in almost everything I do. I love makeup because of how creative it makes me, how confident it makes me feel, and it’s just so much fun to play around with it and try new products.

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

One thing about me is that I’m a huge mascara junkie. I can seriously never have enough and although I already have a bunch of mascaras, I constantly want to try out more and more. I’m always on the hunt for a mascara that’s better than the next, and, one to add to my collection of all-time favorites.

If you’re a fan of watching YouTube beauty gurus, then chances are you’ve heard about the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions mascara. Pretty much everyone under the sun was raving about this mascara and how it has become their holy grail product. Although I was intrigued because like I mentioned, I’m absolutely obsessed with mascara, I didn’t really want to pick it up since it was only sold online and I couldn’t get a chance to see what the wand really looked like in person and if it was going to work for me.

Call me crazy, but I tend to veer away from brands that are sold almost exclusively online because I’m a huge fan of seeing the products up close, the packaging, and everything in between before I make the decision to purchase it.

Fast forward to the Holiday Season that just ended. I got the Thrive Cosmetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara as a gift and I was so excited to finally see what the hype was all about. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been totally obsessed with washing my hair. I literally always hated the feeling of my hair getting greasy and I was also so self-conscious the second that I felt like my hair was only a tiny bit dirty. Since I hated the look of my hair getting even the tiniest bit greasy, I got into the habit of washing my hair almost every day. If you’ve heard anything about hair care and overall hair health, the number one thing you definitely shouldn’t be doing is washing your hair daily. If you wash your hair too often, you really strip your hair of its natural oils, and in the end, you actually end up having your hair get greasy even faster than ever before!

Since I’ve always wanted to grow my hair super healthy and long, I knew that I quickly had to break the habit of over-washing. However, I was tasked with finding out just what could help me extend my times between washes without feeling super self-conscious about myself. What was that miracle product that literally changed my whole hair care routine? It’s dry shampoo!

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Mascara Review

About the Product:

The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Mascara is a relatively new product that was launched by the brand about a few months ago. The mascara claims to give lashes instant and long-last volume, length, and lift with an exclusive “load, comb, and lift” technology brush. According to Charlotte Tilbury, the mascara includes an innovative brush that has a flat side which is meant to load and coat the lashes and a bristle side for combing the mascara through. This innovative brush is meant to grip each individual lash from root to tip. Additionally, the mascara brush has bristles that are diamond-shaped, which follows the geometry of the eye for an eye-opening effect. (Sounds amazing right?!)

Being a high-end brand, this product retails for $29.00 for a full sized tube. The mascara is also available in a mini version for $15.00. When looking at Sephora.com, the pillow talk mascara has 393 reviews with a total of 4.3 stars out of 5. Some of the positive reviews include the love of the packaging, and adoration for the innovative wand. When looking at the negative reviews, users mention how they are disappointed that it didn’t give them the curl that they were looking for, and the application was clumpy and messy. Now, let’s take a dive into the rest of my Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Mascara Review and see MY thoughts on the product itself!

Packaging Review:

Before we go into the product review, I want to take a brief moment to talk about the first thing we all see when we purchase a product: the packaging! Personally, I don’t feel like over-the-top packaging is what makes me purchase a product. However, I will mention that I’ve noticed that when a product has nice or innovative packaging, it definitely peaks my interest more about the product.

The Pillow Talk Mascara has absolutely stunning packaging. The carton itself is a pretty much standard mascara carton that a lot of high-end brands utilize. It has claims on the front of it, and it also is a very light pink color which is one of my favorite colors of all time. Once you get past the outer carton, you look at the tube and the first thing that comes to mind is pure luxury. The tube itself has a soft matte touch and is also in that gorgeous light pink shade and has a really pretty design on it. The cap is chrome gold and when it comes to the tube overall, it has a pretty nice weight to it. In my opinion, I feel like the packaging is 5 out of 5 stars because it feels so luxe, it isn’t over-the-top, and it still has a gorgeous simplicity to it.

Product Review:

And now, what we’ve all been waiting for, my thoughts on the product and the full Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Mascara Review! When I first opened the mascara, I’m not going to lie, I thought that the wand was a little strange. When it comes to mascara’s, I’ve found that the ones that really give me what I want when it comes to my lashes are brushes that are usually larger in size and have an hourglass shape to them. I feel like a bigger brush with that particular shape adds more volume and really lengthens my lashes. The Pillow Talk Mascara has a straight wand that is very innovative in its shape. It has two sides to it, each having many small bristles on it.

When I first used the mascara, I applied it just like I would any other mascara, and let me tell you, I was honestly a little bit surprised with how much I didn’t like it. I felt like the mascara didn’t lengthen my lashes, and instead, gave me super gloopy clumpy looking lashes. I quickly jumped online to see just how I should be using this mascara because something must be wrong. And yes, something was definitely wrong. Since this mascara has such a unique and innovative wand, there is a tiny bit of technique that goes into using it. As I mentioned in the “About the Product” section, the mascara has two separate sides it, which are meant to do different things. After noticing that the wand had two different sides to it, I applied the mascara just as how it’s described, and I was FLOORED.

When used correctly, this mascara is absolute perfection. The innovative wand allows you to deposit product onto your lashes, and then comb them through perfectly. The end result? Very elongated clump-free lashes that look so gorgeous, they may even look like you have falsies on! Another major plus of this product is that it lasts super long on your lashes. Once you apply it, it will pretty much hold it’s elongated look all day, no matter what you are doing or the weather. Additionally, the wand is super special because of how it reaches every lash and separates them. Since the wand is kind of long, it has a way of reaching each lash, from end to end, coating them all with product. Along with the length of the wand, the bristles are so tiny and packed which adds beautiful separation to make it look like you have totally full and perfect lashes.

One thing I will mention, is that this product doesn’t provide major curl. Because of the shape of the wand, I feel like this mascara is more meant to elongate, volumize, lengthen, which it does AMAZINGLY. However, if you’re looking for a mascara to really curl your lashes, then I wouldn’t say this one is for you.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Mascara Review – Final Thoughts:

If you’ve been looking to try out a high-end mascara that gives you gorgeous long and voluminous lashes, then I HIGHLY recommend that you try out the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Mascara. Although the product does have a higher price point, I feel like it’s justified because of the innovative wand, cute packaging, and great formula. Would I say it’s my ALL TIME FAVORITE mascara? Probably not. Would I say it’s a mascara that I would purchase time and time again? Absolutely! I love how the mascara delivers on all of the claims that are made and it really makes my lashes look beautiful, point-blank. My final rating for this mascara is 4.5 out of 5 stars! I feel like I would give this mascara a total 5 out of 5 if it just curled my lashes a bit more as well.
